I think they've lifted the restrictions on digital cameras, but you'll need to be careful.
Do me a favour - we're going on holiday next month and are flying from Manchester. Will you let me know what you find out?
Cheers

Hand luggage restricted by size,
Restrictions also apply on what you can take through security area in your hand luggage, but once you are in Duty Free / Departure lounge, you can buy most things and take them onto the plane (except USA which has tighter controls)
As far as electronic devices are concerned, you can take them in hand luggage, but you are likely to demonstrate them in use to security.

Call the airline well in advance of your flight--they will have access to all restrictions and allowances.
Other than that, when in doubt, put it in your checked luggage.
