Hi,
I am currently in Switzerland on a work permit (valid for 3 months). I came here on 15 Aug 2006.

My family is currently in India. I want them to join me here for a period of one or two months.

They hold Indian passports and even I hold Indian passport.

What is the process of obtaining visas for my family?
What types of visas are required?

I was told that I need to produce a document from Swiss company taking responsibility of my family during the stay here. Is it so? Are there any other alternatives?

Kindly inform.

Regards,

SK

hi Sk,

you can ask your family to apply for a visitors visa.you will hav to send them an invitation letter, your recent bank statements, your accomodation letter from your landlord,a copy of your swiss permit and passport.mention the family realtion in the invitation letter as well as the duration of your familys stay. The maximum duration one can get on a visitors visa is 90 days,ie 3 months..one more thing, you will also have to mention who is going to sponsor your familys trip.

your fathers bank statements, income tax return letter,2 passport photographs(of all the members travelling),covering letter by your father(for the famiy) are the documents required from their side.once ,you have all of them, tell them to go the swiss embassy in bombay .it opens at 8 in the morning and you can take token only till 11am.they will have to go to the swiss embassy as its a rule for personal interview if one is travelling for the first time.get the form from their itself or you can download it from the website given below.

dont worry for the visitors visa Its not a big deal.swiss embassy people are good.

one most importan thing.once u get the visa, its valid from the next day itself.so accordingly tell ur parents to plan the visit to the embassy.

If along with your Passport you may enter the ecu Union without a Visa then all schengen signed international places might want to be visited. you probably did not state what Passport you come and forth on. in case you do want a Visa for the international places of the ecu Union you may bypass to any of the Member states on that visitors Visa and that would want to comprise Switzerland
